Sprue bushing is an important component in injection molds. It provides a transitional passage for molten plastic to enter the mold cavity from the nozzle of the injection molding machine.
II. Material Characteristics
It is usually made of high-quality alloy steel such as SKD61. This material has high hardness, high strength, high temperature resistance, good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and can withstand the repeated scouring of high-temperature plastic and the mechanical stress during the opening and closing of the mold during the injection molding process.
III. Design Features
Standard Sizes: Sprue bushings are available in a variety of standard specifications to fit different models of injection molding machines and molds. For example, common outer diameter sizes include 12mm, 16mm, etc., and there are also multiple choices for length.
Precision Machining: The internal passage is precisely processed to ensure a smooth surface, reducing the resistance of plastic flow, enabling the plastic to be injected into the mold cavity evenly and stably, ensuring the quality of injection molded products.
Special Structure: Some sprue bushings are equipped with a locating ring for easy installation and positioning on the mold to ensure accurate docking with the nozzle of the injection molding machine.
IV. Product Functions
Protect the Mold: During the injection molding process, it prevents high-temperature and high-pressure plastic from directly impacting the mold cavity, thereby extending the service life of the mold.
Uniform Feeding: It helps the plastic to be evenly distributed to all parts of the mold cavity, reducing product defects such as local insufficient filling and stress concentration.
Easy Replacement: When the gate part is worn or damaged, the sprue bushing can be replaced separately without replacing the entire mold, reducing the mold maintenance cost.
